MacFIL is finally making it up our way. I think Mr. Mac has a day full of RV repairs set up for him. I like my idea better: come to my triathlon on the Wine Country and go out to dinner after. Doesn't that sound like more fun that sweating over a hot RV trying to figure out why the engine keeps turning off while we're driving?
We're not scheduled to do any family stuff until this Fall after that. My mom is coming up in Sept and I'm going to San Diego in October. Then, Nov. is my Ironman and I'm hoping some of my relatives will show up for it so I have people to cheer me on. Thanksgiving is right after so we're thinking we'll stay south and head to SD for Thanksgiving or maybe we can talk some people into going to the Grand Canyon for a Thanksgiving away from home instead.

Tahoe
We're up in Tahoe this week. MacMadame is doing a triathlon at Donner Lake on Sunday so we decided to make a family vacation of it. MacBoy decided to stay home. He's too cool for family vacations any more. Though, if we ever get back to Walt Disney World or take a cruise, I bet he'll he be right there.
We're staying at a place called (don't laugh) Terrible's Gold Ranch RV Park and Casino. It's just across the Nevada border. It's pretty close to Lake Donner and to our relatives who live in Incline Village.
Getting here was interesting, as there is a lot of construction going on in the area and that made for some very narrow roads. The Behemoth didn't like that, nor did it like climbing all that elevation. But we made it!
Yesterday we went to Lake Donner and MacMadame ran around the lake. The air is THIN up here and she thought she was going to die at first, but then got into it. Her time wasn't too bad. Maybe she'll be able to break the four hour mark in her triathlon after all.
Mini-Mac went swimming even though the lake is FREEZING. She's pretty hardy that way. Then she sunbathed like we all used to do before everyone worried about skin cancer. She had plenty of sunblock on though so didn't get too tan.
Then we went to Northstar at Tahoe to meet relatives for dinner. We had an old gift card that Grandma Mac gave us the last time we were out here so we bought some clothes with it. It was five years old, but it still had money on it! Mini-Mac made a candle and MacMadame made some earrings.
We went to a sushi place for dinner and then The Chocolate Bar for dessert. Mr. Mac had their version of a brownie sundae and it was quite good, but Mini-Mac's chocolate mousse cake and MacNephew's mud pie were just okay.
We have to go back on Friday to pick up Mini-Mac's candle as it needed time to harden.
Today we're going to Reno. We'll visit a train museum to make Mr. Mac happy and then go to an enormous mall to make MacMadame and Mini-Mac happy. (Now that she's a size two, MacMadame needs lots and lots of clothes and is always shopping.) If we can, we're going to see the new Harry Potter movie too.
Tomorrow, we'll visit the niece, nephew and grand-niece at their place including some more swimming. MacMadame thinks she'll bring her wetsuit this time. We may mountain bike too.
Saturday we'll go back to Donner Lake to pick up MacMadame's race packet and have a BBQ with some people from her triathlon club and she wants to bike the bike route as a last hurrah before the triathlon. Mini-Mac wants to kayak too and there is a place to rent them there so it's likely we'll do that or some boating of some sort.
Sunday is the triathlon, which MacMadame will write about in her personal blog (Fatty Fights Back) and then Monday we'll come home.

Back from San Diego
We're back from our vacation. San Diego was great. We just hung out with family and didn't end up doing anything touristy, but that was okay.
Mini-Mac and Mini-Cousin had a grand old time playing video games and Barbies and trading clothes. As usually Mini-Mac scored some new outfits. Although she is now in the 44% for height instead of way down low, she's still the smallest of her friends and always comes home with clothes they've outgrown when she visits. This visit was no exception. She ended up with a great pink dress.
The boy cousins were quite impressed with their "almost an adult" cousin MacBoy and wanted to play with him a lot. MacBoy likes kids and was happy to oblige. He even had a "sleepover" with one of his cousins though it mostly consisted of him staying up until 4am playing World of Warcraft. He whined a lot about being forced to go on this trip and not bring his girlfriend, but I think Mr. Mac was right about this (and I was wrong). It was good to have this time together as a family. It would have been a very different trip if he'd had someone to constantly disappear with. Now that he's almost of legal age, this may be the last time we have a vacation like this.
I only worked out one day, in spite of my best intentions, but did well with my eating plan. I didn't have foamies or throw up one time and only got uncomfortably full a few times. Either I'm getting better or my sleeve is getting more forgiving. Or both.
Oh and Mr. Mac and I met a friend of mine for "dinner" the last night we were there. It was good to catch up. Most of the people I used to know in San Diego are all married with kids now. It was fun to hear about them.

Disneyland
We stopped at Disneyland on the way to Dan's sister's. It was awesome!
Sunday night we just hung around Downtown Disney. It was super crowded and I was worried we hadn't beat the Thanksigiving crowds like we thought we would by doing Disney first. But Monday was fine. We hardly had to use any Fast Passes because the wait in most lines was around 30 minutes.
We went on Splash Mountain and I got talked into sitting in the front seat of the log flume. I was SOAKED! Plus we went at dusk so there wasn't any sun to dry me off. I was unhappy at first, but got over it. We saw most of what we wanted at Disneyland proper and then went over to Disney's California Adventure for dinner.
Tuesday was even less crowded. We mostly stayed at Disney's California Adventure, but there isn't a lot to do there so we went back to Disneyland to pick up some stuff we missed. Unfortunately, the lines were long at one ride and the other was closed. So we piddled around a bit and did Autopia.
I am not a big fan of Autopia, but it's even worse if you don't get to drive. Right at the last minute, Mini-Mac begged me to rid with her but I said no. Big mistake. She couldn't work the car at all and ended up sitting there for long periods of time until Mr. Mac just pushed her car with his car. I was upset because I felt she had just given up. She was upset because she was humiliated. Not a good scene all around.
We went back to DCA at this point because we wanted to do the Tower of Terror again. I LOVE THAT RIDE. It's my favorite ride in the whole world. At the last minute, Mr. Mac and Mini-Mac chickened out. We already had four Fast Passes so MacBoy and I went in the regular line and rode, then came out and used our Fast Passes to ride two more times. It was AWESOME! We got to sit in the front row the last time and it was the best because the whole car was into the ride. We all had our hands up and were hooting and hollering.
At this point, the original plan had been to go on California Screaming again but it looked like it was going to rain and the kids wanted to go to Downtown Disney and buy souvenirs. We did and then took the shuttle back to the hotel where we found our car had been invaded ... by ants!
We took off and just beat the rain, squishing ants the whole way to San Diego. I was still wet from the Grizzly River Run ride (though Mini-Mac got the wettest this time) so on the way home we went to McDonalds and I was drying my ass on the blow dryer in the Women's Room. Luckily no one came in and caught me.
Our hotel in San Diego is a big flea bag, but we don't plan to spend much time there. More later as events unfold.
